The pandemic has brought new changes. Fiji Human Resources Institute President, Kameli Batiweti made this comment during the BSP Life 2021 Fiji Human Resources Institute (FHRI) Annual Convention at Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa at Den- arau Island in Nadi on Friday.

Mr Batiweti said: “The pandemic has brought new changes.

“First is the structural change. Gone is the 8am to 5pm regime, now we have to work from home. “Changing of technology.

“The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace threatens the elimination of jobs, 37 per cent estimated increase in labour pro- ductivity and more digitalisation and data analytics.

“There is also a change in products. Without change businesses would lose their competitive edge and fail to meet the ever-changing needs of customers,” he added.

He said positive change throughout the pandemic was the engagement of employees who have emotionally attached to the company.

“Positive impacts of change are the increase in business efficiencies, investment in human resources.

“The engagement of employees who are emotionally attached to the company.

“Employees who feel engaged always put their best while doing something.

“These employees are much more motivated than others. They do tasks with the same amount of ded- ication and precision.”
